Day Two
Hi friends.
Today was a solid (and exhausting) day of service ministry in San Francisco. One of our teams woke up at 6am (before everyone else) and served breakfast at Glide Memorial. It was a great experience and students either served the food to people in line or served in the prep room. The most emotional time of the trip thus far has been watching 8 students in tears whilst cutting hundreds of onions. It was hilarious and no one was dramatic about (read everyone was dramatic about it).
After the morning serving at Glide the whole team split up for the day into our smaller groups and went out into the city. The mission today was to go to local churches and pray over them. It was a great time to remind students that while it felt like we weren’t “doing” anything we were actually practicing our belief that God is the one who acts and God is the one truly ministering in the hearts of the people in SF.
A great experience of the day was when my group stumbled across a church that was in the middle of gearing up for a food distribution. They asked if we were there to volunteer…and we said no, but now that they had asked YES! So we worked there for a while and moved on.
Tonight we walked around and handed out hot chocolate to the people in the Tenderloin district and to some people on Market street.
We’re having a great time being stretched here! We’re tired but doing well. Miss and love you all back home. Keep praying for us here!
